Andreas Berger, who caused a small sensation (especially in Japan) with his electroacoustic ambient project Glim ('music for fields-recordings', 2003) in the early 2000s, now presents an extraordinary LP after a ‘break’ of almost fifteen years. During this time Berger worked almost exclusively for the dance company 'Liquid Loft', which he co-founded. Together with the choreographer Chris Haring he developed the sound language that has become so typical for Liquid Loft, which is situated in the field of tension between body, language, movement and sound. The consistent and constant refinement of this form earned Liquid Loft a golden lion for the best performance at the Venice Biennale (2007).

Berger now impressively detaches this musical language he developed from the bodies of the performers* and lets it work on its own. This is music with uncommon sharpness. All tracks are based on speech samples, of which mostly only scraps can be understood or guessed. Robbed of their syntax and semantics, they become musical building blocks from which Berger arranges minimal but all the more impressive sound worlds with surgical precision by cleverly combining them with electronic sounds and field recordings. The pieces are particularly convincing because of their high inner tension, which also appears somewhat mysterious. Work for liquid loft is a concept album that drifts through different moods, but which does not impose itself, does not fix itself exactly and thus leaves room for individual associations. The idiosyncratic pieces function and work as an entire musical construct due to the years of meticulous work on the relationship between language, sound and music. Andreas Berger's music bears witness to an author's handwriting that fascinates and captivates with its precision and richness of nuances.
